Open Leadership Slots

Technically, according to our Chapter Bylaws the following positions come up yearly for election at our annual chapter meeting held in April.

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • State Council Delegate
  • 3 Board of Directors

In recent experience, the president and vice president have been serving two years and the others longer if they choose, with 6 years being the limit for all elected positions. Election is by secret ballot but if an officer or board member is running for a position unopposed, that condition is typically waived by a majority of members present and they are elected by voice vote. If the positon has more than one nominee, then a secret ballot is arranged by the secretary.

Obviously, a member can run for any position they choose, but the question in many people's minds is what are the slots that no one is lining up to fill. This year we have cornucopia of uncontested slots because the president and vice president are not running again, two board members are not running again, and the treasurer and secretary have hit their 6 year limits. So that's 6 very important positions that are looking for leadership.

Now is a great opportunity to lead the group into the future. Contact any officer or board member on the Leadership Roster and they will submit your name to the elections committee when it convenes.
