The Meicher Madness Auction is coming up fast-fast-fast on Tuesday, March 10 at Schwoegler Lanes. There are dozens of reasons to be excited about it … and in this email we will share just two … two stellar donations for the chapter and opportunities for you.
Beautiful Bamboo
John Lyons has made a most generous donation to the Meicher Auction. Thanks to him, you have the chance to bid on one of the best rods ever to be offered at our auction and certainly the finest bamboo rod. In John’s words …
I’ve decided to donate my dad’s Leonard bamboo rod to the SWTU auction if you want to promote it. Here are the details:
- H L Leonard Split Bamboo, Model 49
- Late 1970’s, original retail ~$1000(?)
- 7.5’, 5 wt, 3 3/4 oz; serial number 2233
- 3 piece with an extra tip
- In original metal rod tube, about 2.7’ long.
- Tube a bit beat up but rod in good shape
A bit of online research shows this rod has appreciated in value. This is a bamboo rod which will fish our spring creeks beautifully. The Board is grateful for John’s donation and recognizes the rod’s value. Consequently, the Board has set a firm minimum bid for the rod of $500.
Fish Catchin’ Boat
Jim Hess generously donated his Outcast Fish Cat Panther Pontoon Fishing Boat to the auction. Here are details shared by Jim and also note details in this link and the photo below.
- Guaranteed to catch fish
- Stable and smooth maneuverability with a 400 lb. load limit
- 10′ pontoons
- Welded seams with a lightweight aluminum frame
- Great for rivers and lakes.
- About 12 years old, in great shape – no damage to frame or pontoons
- Built-in anchoring system, which you will need, as the fish will drag you around
- Double action hand pump
- New – $1,790
- Will deliver in the Madison Area
Again, a stellar item looking for a new home to the benefit of our cold water resource and the lucky member with the winning bid. Thank you, Jim!
Of course, the auction will have dozens (hundreds?) of other items … from flies to rods to wading packs to camping gear to books to artwork and much much more. It all depends on what’s donated — so look through your gear for some items to donate and make room for something new from the auction.
Please watch Newscasts for further details of this tremendous event — our only fundraiser for the year.
Thank you.
