On September 30 at the Rathskeller, we were 11 instructors and about the same number of Hoofers who stopped by for a fabulous time of tying flies and talking about everything related to favorite flies and fly fishing and streams and beyond.
This immediately followed a Hoofer’s Outing Club ice cream social for announcing their upcoming activities to a packed meeting room at Memorial Union. Fly Fishing is their newest activity and when the Outing Club president introduced FF Activity Chair, Tatum Hedrick, they also recognized SWTU and praised our support and collaboration. Hedrick shared about the beauty of and connectedness with nature when in a trout stream, and invited everyone to join us in the Rathskeller for fly tying. Turnout was less than our energetic March fly tying clinic, but that night wasn’t competing with an ice cream social and dozens of excited announcements for some very cool outdoor activities: wilderness canoeing, whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, backpacking, trail running, mountain biking…. but we did have a very nice selection of beer.
Thank you instructors for all you do!
